Whatever your vision is for your next print project, Powerhouse Print Solutions can make it a reality. Although we will employ whichever print method is most suitable for the project, our clients’ jobs typically fall within two main types of printing: digital and offset.
Digital Printing
Digital printing is a printing technique where the print image is sent directly to the printer via PDFs or other compatible software and eliminates the need for a printing plate.
Small Format
Small format is most often used for small run jobs like postcards, posters or handouts because it typically provides a quicker turn-around time and lower cost due the absence of printing plates. It also allows for on-demand printing and variable data imaging (e.g. imprinting individual addresses on envelopes for a mail-out). Drawbacks to this process can include loss of fine image detail and lack of precise colour.
Large format
This category, as the name implies, includes large indoor and outdoor signage, banners, vinyl graphics and other larger-scale displays.
Offset Printing
Offset printing is a printing technique where the inked image is transferred from a plate to a rubber blanket and then to the printing surface.
Sheet fed
Single sheets of paper are fed into the press one at a time via a suction bar that lifts and drops each sheet into place. Particularly effective for larger runs of 500+, sheet-fed jobs provide a consistent high image quality and can incorporate a wide variety of dynamic options (e.g. embossing, varnishes, die cutting, foiling and more). Used most often for projects such as annual reports, presentation folders, manuals and marketing materials.
Web fed
The paper is fed into the press via continuous rolls of paper as opposed to flat sheets. This process is typically used for very large runs of 10,000+ (e.g. magazines, store flyers, advertisements for mail-drops, etc.)
When the project calls for it, we also employ printing techniques like screen printing (used recently for a very precise colour match required on signage that large format digital printing could not provide) or dye sublimation printing (used for flags, tents, tablecloths, etc).
